A Voice for the vulnerable
I have always been passionate about social injustice, since establishing the Rise Foundation and from meeting other professionals in the voluntary and charity sector, I have come to realise that the vulnerable in society need a voice in the Seanad. I will speak up for those impacted by addiction, suicide, mental health issues, or are disabled, sick, homeless or elderly at a national level.
Supporting Communities
Through my work with the Rise Foundation I’ve been exposed to the importance of community structure across this island. I will work to address the variety of issues the community and voluntary sector deal with by ensuring they have access to a sustainable funding model so that they can focus on the work they were set up to do.
Public Service Broadcasting
Local and independent radio stations provide a very important community service to rural and urban areas throughout the country, and many people rely on these services to connect with their local communities. I will advocate for the IBI in its campaign for a fair and equitable system of funding for public service broadcasting in Ireland.
Seanad
All Irish Citizens should have a vote in the Seanad elections, this will ensure that it is progressive and inclusive of our people. This reform would enable people forced to emigrate to still have electoral representation.
